Bush addresses reporters Thursday, May 1, 2008 in White House Diplomatic Reception Room, to ask Congress to provide an additional $770 million to support food aid and development programs. The $770 million would be in addition to the $200 million in emergency food aid announced by the White House two weeks ago to be available through a program at the U.S. Agricultural Department called the Emerson Trust. President George W. Bush salutes Tech Sgt. Ben Kuroki, of the 442nd Regiment, during his remarks Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in the East Room of the White House. Ben Kuroki, flew nearly 60 combat missions in both Europe and the Pacific. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was a segregated Army unit composed mostly of Japanese American volunteers.
