2001-2002 Fellows Reflect on Their Year

As the White House Fellows Class of 2001 – 2002 makes the transition to White House Fellow alumni, we leave the year and start the next phases of our lives with these thoughts in mind.

“This year we learned a great deal about leadership, often in very unexpected ways. Equally as important as the lessons about leadership, however, were the lessons about fellowship.” –- Mary Sarotte

“One of the many things that this year did for me was to dispel several of the negative images that the press had shown me of our Federal Government. I am leaving with a renewed sense of faith in our government and the people who serve in it. I may not always agree with the decisions, but I respect the people making them and their reasons for doing so. “ -- Kim Connors

“I can't remember a time in my life when I have been more immersed in national policy and current events. The combination of speakers, placement, and debates with the other Fellows created a rich mix of policy ideas and intellectual stimulation. It will take a while before it all soaks in. I have gained eleven close friends for life. And that is more valuable than a hundred trips to China.” -- Kris Kobach

“The combination of developing relationships with 11 other outstanding folks, two great placements, and a solid speakers/education program made the White House Fellowship experience a great one.
