DIRECTOR JIM NUSSLE’S STATEMENT ON SENATE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN LEGISLATION
“I applaud Senator DeMint’s recently introduced legislation, which would ensure government operations and services for taxpayers continue while Congress completes its important work on annual spending bills. President Bush has taken leadership on this issue and included a "Government Shutdown Prevention" proposal in each of his budgets.
It’s unfortunate the Democratic leadership in Congress has failed to pass spending bills before the end of the fiscal year. That’s why I appreciate the effort by Senator DeMint to make sure valuable government services are maintained for American taxpayers when Congress doesn’t get its job done on time. I look forward to working with Congress to ensure we fund our government at reasonable and responsible levels.”
