Iraq Fact of the Day

Iraq is reintegrating into the international community, and the results are seen in all parts of Iraqi society. Today's meeting with members of the Iraqi Governing Council, United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, and members of the UN Security Council is the most recent example. Other examples include: Iraq's negotiations with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund; Iraqi officials attending meetings of the Arab League, Gulf Cooperation Council, and OPEC; and Iraqis making the Hajj with Muslims from across the globe.
