President Establishes "America's Fund for Afghan Children"
The U.S. is the leading humanitarian aid donor for Aghanistan.
In the first days of this operation, the U.S. has successfully dropped more than 275,000 rations for the Afghan people. There are more than 2 million rations in our supply for continued assistance.
Before the September 11th attack, the amount of humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people had dramatically slowed due to the dangerous environment created by the Taliban. By destroying the Taliban's military capabilities, it is easier to deliver food and medical supplies directly to the Afghan people.
$174 million in humanitarian aid was allocated to the Afghan people before September 11. An additional $320 million in aid was designated for Afghan people on October 4.
