President Bush to Nominate Bodman, Combs, and Cooper to Serve in His Administration
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate three individuals to serve in his administration.
The President intends to nominate Samuel W. Bodman to be Deputy Secretary of Commerce. He is currently the Chairman and CEO of Cabot Corporation in Boston, Massachusetts. Before joining Cabot Corporation, he served as the President, Chief Operating Officer and a Director of FMR Corp. Mr. Bodman earned his B.S. from Cornell and his Ph.D. from MIT.
The President intends to nominate Ann Laine Combs to be Assistant Secretary of Labor. She is presently the Vice President and Chief Counsel for Pensions and Retirement at the American Council of Life Insurers and served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for Pension and Welfare Benefits. She is a graduate of Notre Dame University and received her J.D. from George Washington University.
The President intends to nominate Kathleen B. Cooper to be Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs. She is currently the Chief Economist and Manager of the Economics and Energy Division of Exxon Mobile Corporation in Irving, Texas. Before joining Exxon Corporation, she held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Economist at Security Pacific Bank for nine years. She received both her undergraduate and Mater's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
