Hugh Tant III, Gen. Ret.
Former Iraqi Currency Exchange Director
Hugh Tant was Director of the ongoing Iraqi Currency Exchange, a huge and complex program currently replacing Iraq's old currency, easily counterfeited and imprinted with Saddam's face, with Saddam-free and hard-to-counterfeit new money.
General Tant managed a large team of Coalition staff who advise the Central Bank of Iraq on project management, logistics and security.
The General is well-qualified for his task - until recently he was Director of Operations and Support at the Pentagon, responsible for $43bn, two-thirds of the US Army's total budget.
He is no stranger to the Middle East having served in Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991.
He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the US Army's highest achievement award, in 2001.
He was given a special leave of absence from his current position as Senior Vice President, Southcoast Community Bank, Mount Pleasant, S.C. to serve his country in Iraq.
